Dear Confirmands....

Video created and shared by Teameffort Youth Mission Camps

1 Timothy 4:12: Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love in faith, in purity.

Philippians 2:14-15: Do all things without murmuring and arguing so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world.

Philippians 2:1-3: If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.

Micah 6:8: The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: “See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your God.”

Matthew 23:23: You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you’re in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your garden, such as mint, dill, and cumin. Yet you neglect the more important matters of the Law, such as justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These are the important things you should have done, though you should not have left the others. Matthew 6:33 But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.

Proverbs 3:5-6: With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.

Greetings to you, young ladies and gentlemen:

This is your time to shine like a light in the darkness. This is your time to grow in your faith, experience new challenges and to walk with your parents on this journey we call Confirmation. There will be times that you may think you are alone working on this and there maybe times when your Confirmation journey takes a back seat to all of the other things that make life busy, rushed and just plain frantic. But during those times, remember the scriptures listed above, they will help get you through. And always remember, you know, deep down that you can do this.

I hope you will find comfort in knowing that there are a lot of people praying for you and for your journey to be filled with God moments that you will remember for a lifetime. The hope is that 20 years from now you can look back at your Confirmation time and will be able to remember a lot of the things you experienced. The hope is that you will be able to share with others what you experienced, how much you grew in your faith as a Confirmand and that you will remember you did it all while you were being the church to others.

So, all that said, work hard, play hard and look forward to what God has planned for you just around the bend in the road. Here's another way to put it: Matthew 5 says, "You're here to be the light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to must remember one thing; open up with God, this generous Father in heaven." As with anything else, you and your parents will receive exactly what you put into your Confirmation experience. Jump in feet first, enjoy the time spent with your parents and together enjoy your Confirmation Journey. May your light shine like a beacon in the darkness of night.
